On November 2, 2021, Safe City Mississauga presented the Bell Hero Awards at the 10th Annual Crime Prevention Conference. The awards were presented by Lena Demarco, Regional Director of Community Affairs at Bell Canada on behalf of Bell, the presenting partner and platinum sponsor of the event.
The Bell Hero Awards honour an adult, youth and community organization that have made extraordinary contributions to crime prevention in Mississauga. The Hero Awards acknowledge the idea that not all heroes wear spandex or have secret identities; oftentimes, those who make the biggest difference in our neighbourhoods are the people we share our lives with on a regular basis.
This year’s award recipients are:
- Jess Mann, Neighbourhood Watch Team Lead – Adult Hero Award
- Ivanka Barakova & Sanjeev Bagha, SCM Program Assistants – Youth Hero Awards
- Streetsville BIA, Business Watch Supporter – Community Organization Hero Award
